    The Rendezvous

“The Blue Tapestry”  Part 1 of the Trilogy

Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance”

                                                                                                           Cowboy Proverb

     The Rendezvous

The Sky was blue, the air was fresh

    and the meadows were green

The innocent, sensuous, jade-like yet soft voice

    Came over beautifully

Drowning the slurring humming noise of the wind that

    Passed over the open hood

    Caressing the two smiling faces ;

Their laughter meandered and bounced along

the twists and turns of the idyllic country roads

    Hélène
    Je m'appelle Hélène
    Je suis une fille
    Comme les autres

    Hélène
    J'ai mes joies mes peines
    Elles font ma vie
    Comme la votre

    Je voudrais trouver l'amour
    Simplement trouver l'amour..........

With the bright warm sun watching over high above

They sat in the garden sipping wine

Chatting about anything, everything and nothing

The pet dogs looked on enviously

Salivating probably only to stay cool and

Taste the biscuits on the table

Rain came down with wind blowing

They sat on one of the rows in the spectators’ stand

At the open theatre by the sea

    Joining many people

    Taking refuge from the elements

    But there was no performance

    The only spectacle was that

Two people deeply intoxicated, finding each other

Feeling slightly dizzy under the dream-like ambience

    Summer sizzled up the heat

The sun was beating down mercilessly

Weeds grew turning the garden into a raging forest

He wrestled with the electric lawn mower

Trying to tame the unruly green into some order

Only to discover the grass scoop

Liked to play the splitting game

Separating from the mower at every minor jolt

    She wore her straw hat

    Gave up watching helplessly

his struggle with the demon machine

Got busy re-setting the water sprinklers

That 'd been buried for sometime and

She collected the debris left in the trail that he blasted

    Dusk, then darkness fell

    So did the barbecue

“I still love him. If he comes back to me,

I ‘ll be his again. “

The barbecue turned into a bonfire

He felt like being pushed over a cliff

Without a lifeline to hang onto

He lost his composure and was dangerously helpless

He reached for an escape hatch and booked a holiday

“I want to take some time off too. Do you mind if I travel with you? “

Not comprehending the complex female psyche

“I just needed some time to think alone!” He grunted

“When will you fly out? “ She despaired

    “Coming Sunday.”

Same music played but the mood decidedly turned blue

Fly, Spirit, on Wings of Gold

Fly, Spirit, on wings of gold

    There are

    Times when we are weak

Moments when we feel bitterness of loss

Burdened by not knowing who to lean on

    Depressed by reality

    Do this

    Let out your magical tears

They’ll soothe and heal your soul

    Roar thunders of your crying

Chase away the devil of depression and

Fly, Spirit, on wings of gold,

    Soar above the sky

You’ll rediscover your dreams of butterfly

Taste the sweet nectar of life and

Remember always you are not alone

We are riding this journey together

    So take heart, my friend

    Be strong

    There are

    Discoveries to be made

Rainbows to climb and yes, don’t forget

The restaurant at the end of the universe…..

    Sail on Silver girl!!

    The Day After Tomorrow

“The Blue Tapestry”  Part 2 of the Trilogy

There are two tragedies in life. One is not to get your heart's desire. The other is to get it.

George Bernard Shaw, "Man and Superman" (1903), act 4
    Irish dramatist & socialist (1856 - 1950)

    The Day After Tomorrow

Two people sat across the crowded smoky upstairs bar

Music from the duet filled the expanse of the atrium with insincere melody

Being laughed at by the cheery piano’s dancing notes

    They spoke without communicating

    They listened without hearing

They smiled at each other with politeness

They did want one another but vanity killed the flame

They tried reaching out but bad experience blocked them

They tried to comfort each other but

    They hurt each other instead

And the nightmare just wouldn’t loosen its grip either

    Donning its inviting masquerade

    Piped out the charming tune

“ the world out there is more fantastic!!!”

she was spelled bound and could resist no more…..

“When ‘ll you fly out?” she asked in her low soft voice

    knowing the answer already

“The day after tomorrow” he downed his jack daniel’s in one go

Fate can be wicked but us too, perhaps more so even without trying

His heart sank icy cold as she drove away and

His mind went blank wondering if

Parallel lines had to part even after they met?

Tomorrow came, same bar, two people

sat across a different table sipping wine and jack daniel’s

“Are you okay?” she inquired, mildly concerned

“What do you think?” he muttered defiantly

Sensing the deep sadness behind the bravado

She smiled and uttered the magic words “ Let it Be …”

The music flowed so did the wine

“Don’t forget to loosen up !” she waved ciao

“I’ll do my best !” dragging his numb body

out onto the brightly neon-lit street thinking

“ Yeah, I ‘ll do just that “

In the crowd, he was all alone

Feeling helpless under the oppressive calm

    Once, a wise man said

    “life is a passage

    come what may

    enjoy the ride ”

And he slowly faded into the night not knowing……..

"Love does not begin and end the way we seem to think it does. Love is a battle, love is a war; love is a growing up."

    -James Baldwin

Part 2 of  “ The Blue Tapestry ” trilogy
